What are your opening hours? 
We’re open 7 days a week, typically from 09:00 17:00. Hours may vary depending on weather, season, or operational needs. 

Are visitors welcome on site? 
Yes — visitors are most welcome. Please stay within designated public areas unless accompanied by staff. 

Can I visit the airfield even if I don’t have a flight or lesson booked? 
Absolutely — we welcome aviation enthusiasts and casual visitors during our operational hours. Enjoy a drink or bite to eat in our café.  Is parking free?  Yes — we offer free on-site parking for all guests. 

Are children allowed on site? 
Yes — children are welcome but must be supervised at all times.  Are dogs allowed?  Yes — dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead at all times. 

Do you have toilet facilities on site? 
Yes — clean, regularly serviced toilets are available, including accessible bathrooms. Do you have accessible facilities for disabled visitors?  Yes — step-free access is available to key areas including reception and the café. Please let us know if you need any support during your visit. 

Is there Wi-Fi on site? 
Yes — guest Wi-Fi is available in the café and reception areas. Do you host group visits or school trips?  Yes — please email office@tatenhill.com to arrange group visits in advance.

What are your café opening hours? 
Our café is open 7 days a week, from 09:00 to 16:00, serving hot food, drinks, and snacks. 

Is indoor seating available? 
Yes — indoor and outdoor seating is available for both pilots and visitors.

🔍 Before You Book 

Where can I buy a flight experience voucher? 
Visit the “Gift Flights” section of our website to purchase a voucher online.  

Can I redeem a third-party voucher at Tatenhill? 
Yes — we accept vouchers from  Virgin Experience Days, Into the Blue, and Activity Superstore. To redeem, email office@tatenhill.com with your voucher details and preferred date. Adventure001 , please contact the provider to schedule a booking. 

 

 

What are the age requirements to fly or train? 
You can start training from age 14, fly solo at 16, and hold a PPL from age 17. 

Do I need a medical to start flight training? 
No medical is required to begin training, but you’ll need a Class 2 medical before flying solo. 

Do I need to declare a medical condition before starting flight training? 

Yes. For your safety and that of others, you must declare relevant medical conditions before beginning training with us. 

Which conditions specifically require medical advice before training? 

If you have epilepsy, ADHD, or diabetes (or a history of these), you must seek medical advice from your GP or an aviation medical examiner first. They can affect concentration, alertness, or safety during training, so medical clearance is required before flying. 

Do I need to bring ID for my first lesson? 
Yes — please bring a valid photo ID such as a passport or driving licence. 

What if the student is under 18? 
A signed Parental/Guardian Consent Form must be returned before the flight. This will be sent to you during the booking process. 

Q: What is the minimum age for a trial flying lesson? 
A: Participants must be at least 14 years old and tall enough to reach and operate all controls safely. Flight time can be logged towards a future Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). 

Q: Can children under 14 sit in the back of a 4-seater aircraft? 

A: No – children must be at least 14 years old to sit in the rear seats, as they need to fully understand and follow the safety briefing and instructions given before and during the flight. 

 

Q: Is there a maximum age for participants? 
A: No – as long as you are physically able to board and exit the aircraft safely, there is no upper age limit. 

 
Q: Are there weight or height restrictions? 
A: Yes. Weight and height limits vary depending on the aircraft type. Please confirm the requirements with us at the time of booking to ensure a safe and comfortable fit.

By redeeming a voucher, you agree to familiarize yourself with and abide by Tatenhill Aviation’s Terms & Conditions, including all applicable safety restrictions and weight limitations. These measures are in place to ensure compliance, safety, and an enjoyable experience for all participants. 

 

Can I fly if I wear glasses or contact lenses? 
Yes — many pilots wear corrective lenses. Your vision just needs to be correctable to the required standard. 

📅 Booking Your Flight or Lesson 

How do I book a flight experience or lesson? 
Call 01283 575283 or email office@tatenhill.com to check availability and book. 

Can I reschedule instead of cancelling? 
Yes — rescheduling is free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice.
 

What is your cancellation policy? 
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations (within 24 hours) are non-refundable. 

Is my voucher refundable? 
No — vouchers are non-refundable, but we’re happy to reschedule your booking within the valid period. 

How long is my voucher valid for? 
Vouchers are typically valid for 12 months from the purchase date. 


Can I extend my voucher?
 

Possibly — we may extend unused vouchers on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us with your voucher details. 

 

🛬 On the Day 

How early should I arrive before my flight? 
Please arrive 15 minutes before your booking time to allow time for check-in and briefing. 

Will I receive a briefing before and after my flight? 
Yes — your instructor will provide a full pre-flight and post-flight briefing. 

Can I take photos or videos during my flight? 
Yes — your instructor will let you know when it’s safe to do so. 

🌦 If Plans Change 

What happens if my flight is cancelled due to weather? 
We’ll reschedule your booking to another convenient date at no extra cost. 

🎓 Ongoing Training 

What are your current training prices? 
Email office@tatenhill.com for up-to-date training rates and packages. 

How much does it cost to get a PPL? 
Costs typically range between £10,000 and £15,000, depending on how frequently you fly and your progress.

Do I need PPR (Permission to Land)? 
Yes — all visiting aircraft must obtain PPR. Email tower@tatenhill.com or call 01283 575283 before arrival. 

Do you allow out-of-hours landings? 
Yes — by prior arrangement only and subject to staff availability. Email tower@tatenhill.com to request. 

How do I request drone activity near the airfield? 
Drone operations require advance approval. Email tower@tatenhill.com with details including location, time, and operator information.

Can I hangar or park my aircraft at Tatenhill? 
Yes — indoor hangarage and outdoor parking are available. Contact clientservices@tatenhill.com for availability and pricing.

Yes — we offer full aircraft engineering services. Email clientservices@tatenhill.com to book or enquire. 

Do you offer CAMO and airworthiness services?
